Suzi List (Artist) spent many years performing as an actor in New York, Tucson, and Atlanta. After her retirement from the stage, she needed a new outlet for her artistic expression, and developed the "Weighty Issues" series by happenstance. She was struck by how often scales, especially for woman, can become such a confrontational source of anxiety. Her artistic utilization of the typical scale makes it less an object to be feared, and more a practical piece of art to be used, or simply enjoyed.
She makes art when seized by the spirit, and does not limit herself to the palette of the bathroom scale, although it was her initial inspiration as a medium. She truly enjoys commissions in which she is allowed to create a sense of whimsy, and infuse a bit of the personality of the person who will be living with, and using the piece.
